News – The Hound of the Baskervilles ePlay

Nick’s adaptation for the stage of Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles from the classic story The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle is now available as an ePlay (EPUB or MOBI).

Young Dr Mortimer ventures from Devonshire to Baker Street with news of the death of his friend, Sir Charles Baskerville. Can it really be that the grisly legend of the Hound of the Baskervilles might have something to do with the case? Holmes will have none of it, but even he must accept that dark forces are at work. Dark forces that it seems Dr Watson must face alone…

First presented at the Theatre Royal Nottingham in the Classic Thriller Season, 2015

Adapter Nicholas Briggs, who also plays a comically smooth Sherlock Holmes, makes it a play within a play. Dr Watson who’s supposed to have written it, is putting the whole thing on at the Royal. This gives lots of scope for sending it up; and up it’s well and truly sent… A cracking start to the Thriller Season. Alan Geary, Nottingham Post

A send up of the original, with tongue firmly in cheek, pipe clamped firmly against a stiff upper lip and occasional bursts of tweed. …the assembled masses of thriller season lovers were lapping up the silliness. A gentle wheeze. Dom Henry, LeftLion
