In the 1980s and 1990s Nick hosted the acclaimed Myth Makers, a series of made-for-video documentaries produced by Reeltime Pictures, in which many of the actors, writers and directors involved in Doctor Who were interviewed. These included Colin Baker, Sophie Aldred, Louise Jameson, Mary Tamm, Anneke Wills, Richard Franklin, Lis Sladen, Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee and Nicholas Courtney. This year Nick has interviewed special effects guru Mike Tucker, composer Dominic Glynn and acclaimed Doctor Who producer Philip Hinchcliffe for a new series of Myth Makers.
Nick is currently one of the presenters for BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Seventh Dimension science fiction/fantasy and horror hour. For a couple of years Nick was the sole presenter, but in order to free himself up for other work, Nick has become part of a rotating team of four presenters. His work on the Seventh Dimension has included radio interviews with Charlie McDonnell, Dirk Maggs and Neil Gaiman.
Nick has presented the Big Finish Podcast since it began in 2008. For a number of years, his co-presenter was the late ‘comedy genius’ Paul Spragg, who Nick misses very much. The podcasts continue with David Richardson, Ian Atkins and Sue Cowley.
Nick has presented annual Doctor Who Quizzes for Penguin Books at literary festivals throughout the UK including the Bath Festival of Children’s Literature; Hay Festival for Literature and the Arts; and the Oxford Literary Festival. He also participated in the Evening Standard’s 2013 Get Reading event in Trafalgar Square
