The Benji and Nick Show – Columbo

In this week’s The Benji and Nick Show, Benji and Nick are discussing the first episode of Columbo – an American television series first broadcast in 1971. Columbo pioneered the inverted mystery technique by showing the crime first and then having Lieutenant Columbo – a homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department – solve it.

Three actors have played Columbo: Bert Freed in the one-off 1960 TV movie Enough Rope; Thomas Mitchell in the stage version of Prescription: Murder in 1962; and most famously Peter Falk, who starred in 69 TV episodes from 1968–2003.
